The Enviolo (formerly known as Nuvinci) Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) internally geared hub is a much sought after eBike feature - not only because of the internal gear advantage (change seamlessly at rest and reduce the chances of having a chain fall off) , but also because of it’s unique abilities to eliminate gear steps. So you don't have to think about changing into the right gear, just twist the grip until you reach your preferred rate of pedaling (cadence). The Vario 380 hubs provide a similar gear range (1:380) as a conventional derailleur drivetrain, but it keeps all the working parts covered up, clean and well lubricated so it needs virtually no maintenance. Efficiency is lower than Rolhoff or Derailleur setups, but for the rider who values ease of use the motor will pick up the slack. Note that during the 500 mile break-in period, Vario hubs will not be as freewheeling as other drivetrains because it is packed with grease, and some people say it slightly spongy feel during the break-in.
